Portsmouth Adams Morey body shop will tackle anything that is possible!
That is the claim from Mick Mitas, the Body Shop Manager at Adams Morey in Portsmouth. Certainly the body shop is a very busy environment and Mick reports that they have a very experienced staff who collectively have the skills to tackle almost any body shop job.
Mick says: “We undertake accident repairs to commercial vehicles, trailers, vans, cars and motorhomes. We are deemed “Specialist” when it comes to motorhomes. Our reputation is based on our flexibility, rapid response, our wide skills base and versatility.
“We carry out paint spraying of new and used commercial vehicles. We specialise also in the repair and painting of Medical Trailers/Scanners and their support vehicles. Our staff also help customers with the design of graphics and draw, cut and fix vinyl graphics to vehicles.”
Andrew Gordon is the Workshop Foreman and specialist panel beater, he adds to the list of work undertaken explaining: “We have skilled steel and aluminium fabrication staff who carry out the welding of mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium. This can be repair work, but can also be a complete fabrication of parts of a vehicle, for example a whole new curtain side structure for a trailer. We work as a team in the workshop. Problem solving sometimes involves more than one opinion. At the end of the day the result should be a little bit of magic – good repairs are not seen!””
With 22 years in coach building and repair work, 15 of which have been with Adams Morey, John Williams is the Estimator for all of the body shop work, pricing parts and the duration of the work so that customers know the cost of each job. John says of his role: “In addition to estimating work I had training in technical drawing and I can help to design adaptations and alterations to trailers. Our team have carried out the full refurbishment of medical trailers used for CT, MRI and X-Ray scanning, both internal and external, including lead lining when required.”
“At Adams Morey we work for all insurance companies. We are not authorised repairers, rather, preferred repairers. This has been our choice”, says Mick Mitas. “We do have a very good relationship and reputation with all insurers and their engineers/assessors. They often come to us for assistance.”
Andrew added: “We are known for our quick response to emergency repairs. Hauliers work to pretty defined schedules for their customers, at home and abroad. Missing a drop, or a Ferry, is not considered an option, and a lot of the repairs are “Driver Waiting.”
Adams Morey can count very large companies among their customer base this includes Babcock, the managing agents for Government Establishments transport rolling stock and also BAE Systems for the military establishments across the Southern Area. Ferryspeed have a very large fleet of trailers that transport goods to and from the Channel Islands on the ferry services.
