Colin Harvey, together with Gary Greenway, worked closely with DAF over a long period to secure approval for the newly developed low‑roof XD cab a modification that reduces the roof height by 18cm, creating one of the lowest cabs available for car‑transporter operations. This fully type‑approved, manufacturer‑warrantied design marks DAF’s official return to the car‑transporter sector and opens up the XD product to a much wider proposition within the industry.
Thanks to Colin and Gary’s dedication, this particular chassis became one of the very first XD cabs to enter production for the new modification. The finished vehicle looks exceptional a genuine game changer for operators carrying up to 11 vehicles, while meeting the three‑star Direct Vision Standard for improved safety in urban environments.
Sadly, Colin never had the chance to see the completed product, but everyone involved is certain he would have been incredibly proud of the outcome. In recognition of his contribution and long‑standing support, BCA have dedicated this vehicle to Colin, with his initials on the plate and his name proudly displayed on the grille a fitting tribute to a man who gave so much to the business and the people within it.
Colin’s wife Anita and daughter Louise attended the handover, joined by Gary Greenway and his wife Angela friends and colleagues who have shared many years, many milestones, and now a moment that honours Colin’s legacy in the most meaningful way.
A special achievement for the industry, and an even more special tribute to Colin.
