RD Avery investing in DAF recovery vehicles from Adams Morey.

RD Avery Ltd have over 37 years of experience in truck recovery and maintenance and are one of the premier agents for heavy vehicle recovery in the south of England, providing 24 hour recovery and breakdown services for all vehicle categories. They have built up an enviable reputation of prompt, professional and friendly service at competitive prices.

The family run business originally started as a repair and maintenance company, but with the need to recover heavy vehicles to their workshops, the recovery side of the business was launched.  Now the company works with national recovery agencies, Police, Fire and Highways England to help keep our roads clear.

Ray and Sue Avery still remain joint Owner/Directors with their daughter Cassie Salisbury now heading up the Leadership Team as Managing Director, working alongside Heads of Departments Stewart Lee, Andrew Avery, Vikki Clarke and Andy Sims. The growing business has a home base near Southampton, just off the A36 with fast links to the M27, M3, A31, A303 and A35.

RD Avery are delighted to confirm that in December 2019 an exciting expansion led to the opening of a new Recovery Operations Centre in Portsmouth, just off Anchorage Road, PO3 5RS. Ideally located to support their operations across Hampshire and beyond, the company is understandably proud of this positive development.

Cassie says “It was a central part of our long term plans for the recovery division of our business to open additional operational sites to support our service to our customers with recovery resources and capability at key locations ready to react to any request immediately with speed and professionalism.”  Andrew Avery (Head of Business Development) who was responsible for bringing the new premises to fruition added “We have a fantastic team of industry specialist operators who can assist customers and recovery partners with the complete range of recovery and rescue services together with Roadside support and incident control”

RD Avery’s Portsmouth site will house a control room together with operational support functions and in-house training/meeting room facilities. In addition, the warehouse/storage and commercial parking will support the deployment of the right equipment along with immediate availability of essential parts and consumables.

Stewart Lee (Head of Recovery) commented “The opportunity to operate directly from Portsmouth, based strategically close to the road network, together with this complete range of services, provides both our current customers and potential clients with confidence in our capability to respond in a timely manner with efficiency and therefore cost control in mind”.

Stewart continued to say of the business: “It is important for us to maintain the highest standards, making sure that RD Avery is fit for the future needs of the industry. For us, this includes strategically located new premises, so we can respond to call outs across central southern England and beyond in the shortest possible timescale. We now have depots at each end of the M27 corridor meaning we are perfectly placed with extensive resources available at both sites.

“We recover a whole range of vehicles including, heavy trucks, buses, coaches, light commercials and cars. Our specialist Roadside service vehicles can provide immediate support with roadside repairs and maintenance including diagnostics. Where instant repairs are not possible, we deploy our specialised fleet to recover vehicles whether it’s straight forward lift and tow or complex accident and incident recovery situations, where our full incident management capability is utilised.”

Adams Morey have been a customer and partner of RD Avery for over 20 years.  There is mutual respect and a trusted relationship between the two businesses that has been built over the years.  Bob Cartwright, General Manager of Adams Morey, is very pleased with the latest additions to the RD Avery fleet as Adams Morey have provided two DAF XF 530 Euro 6 specialist recovery vehicles. He says: “We were delighted to invite Ray, Andrew and Stewart, to the DAF assembly plant at Leyland in Lancashire where they saw one of their vehicles being constructed on the assembly line.  RD Avery have been excellent partners recovering vehicles to our depots across the south of England.”

Ray is enthusiastic in his praise for the DAF product and the service from Adams Morey explaining: “DAF have been amazing and the visit to the assembly plant was very special. We have been kept informed by Adams Morey on the time line for the build of the cab and chassis and when the truck would go off to the body builders. We chose the DAF XF 530 chassis for several reasons; we are forward thinking and are aware of the development of Low Emission Zones in many of our cities and the need for us to replace our fleet with more economically and environmentally efficient vehicles.  The DAF XF 530 fits the bill – reliability, dealer backup and price – it really is just the complete package. Boniface Engineering who supply and install the recovery equipment, also advised on both DAF builds that the DAF chassis best suited their requirements.”

Andrew also added: “Our relationship with Adams Morey as a business goes well beyond a supplier/customer relationship and is a genuine partnership as we are both customer and suppliers to each other. We place a huge importance on our supplier and customer relationships, so we are delighted to be providing recovery services for them and equally purchasing major assets via the DAF chassis options. The end to end experience with Adams Morey has been excellent and we feel that we have been looked after with a personal and professional customer service that has been perfect and they delivered the chassis to Boniface on schedule.

We wholeheartedly recommend Adams Morey to the marketplace, locally and nationally and the DAF XF chassis will continue to be foremost in our considerations when replacing our fleet based on our excellent operational experiences to date.”
