DAF New XF delivers fuel economy boost for Stalkers
Stalkers Transport Services in Brampton, Cumbria, has reported ‘an uplift in fuel economy’ following the delivery of six DAF New XF 480 tractor units with Super Space Cabs and ‘FTG’ 6x2 twin-steer axle configurations. The New XFs are already delivering superior economy over the company’s same-spec DAF CF models, averaging 8.5mpg and improving week-on-week. Over 12-months and compared to the CFs’ average economy of 7.83mpg, this represents an increase of 8.6%.

DAF Trucks’ in-house finance division, PACCAR Financial, has reacted quickly to ease concerns of ‘financially stranded’ DAF operators with rental agreements with TOM Vehicle Rental after the Airdrie-based, nationwide rental firm entered into administration at the end of March.
Within one working week, an emergency team of PACCAR Financial representatives had contacted all ex-TOM Vehicle Rental operators with DAF vehicles – totalling 100 businesses and several hundred vehicles – to offer funding support and to reassure them of continued DAF aftersales back-up. For a 23rd year in succession, DAF Trucks has topped the UK commercial vehicle market for trucks above 6.0 tonnes GVW. With figures released by the SMMT earlier this week confirming 13,301 registrations for the built-in-Britain marque, DAF Trucks ended 2017 with a 29.5% share of the market – almost twice that of its nearest competitor.
DAF Trucks’ performance is set against a slight drop of 2.6% in overall market registrations in 2017 – from 46,231 in 2016 to 45,045.

DAF Trucks saw strong performance around the world in 2017. DAF’s European (EU+2) market share in the heavy segment (16 tons+) stood at 15.3%, and in the light segment it increased to 10.5%. In addition, a record number of over 9,000 DAF vehicles were registered outside Europe, while PACCAR engines sales to leading coach and bus manufacturers also reached a new record.
