Trusted relationship with Adams Morey is key for MRB Transport

It is clear that for any business involved with transportation of goods, using HGV’s in particular, down time of vehicles means a potential loss of income.  So building a trusted relationship with a supplier is key to reducing the impact on the business.

At MRB Transport, who are based at the Solent Airport at Lee-on- Solent in Hampshire, Wayne Burton operates a busy fleet of trucks with loads being transported across the UK and Europe by his team of drivers. Teamwork is obviously very important to Wayne as he says: “We have a loyal workforce and we look after them. This means they do their best for MRB.  I go out and drive trucks myself so I know the ups and downs of being a haulage driver.  However, I am always welcoming and the first to offer to make a cup of tea!  This is a family run firm, my son Mathew is one of our drivers, and hopefully that closeness is appreciated by all of our staff.”

MRB run a fleet of 21 trucks the majority of which are DAFs. A variety of trailers including air conditioned, refrigerated, flat bed and low loader are used to transport a wide range of loads.  Recent business has included pontoon steel sections, scaffolding, tractors and excessive size plant machinery. No job is too big or too difficult for MRB.

Wayne deals with Adams Morey in Portsmouth and is very supportive in his views about the staff there. Wayne comments: “We love the DAFs and the back-up we receive from Adams Morey is first class. They have some brilliant people working for them, for example Freddie on the service desk has an encyclopaedic knowledge of everything DAF. Adams Morey have a flexible approach and dealing with people face to face is very important.

“We have recently had a complete revision of our parts stock through Hein Makkink, our Adams Morey Parts Representative. He reviewed our history of parts ordering and we now have a better racking system with labelled stock which is checked regularly and we have a parts van delivery 3 times per day if needed. Hein sorts out our specific parts needs and will source oils, consumables, fittings, tools etc. Not having redundant stock and running a rapid replacement of parts that we use has helped our technicians no end, and leads to efficiencies and a reduction on parts operation costs.”

Adams Morey provide MRB Transport with a range of services including sale of DAF trucks, additional servicing and MOT requirements and parts supply. The close association between the two companies is clearly of great benefit to both.
