Commitment Quality Value
With 8 operational sites across the South and well over 300 employees Adams Morey has always tried to be a good partner in its communities. When a request came in from Samantha Tanner, Charity Manager at Wave 105, for help with the collection of Christmas presents from around the region, the company were quick to answer the call.
Adams Morey Managing Director, Kevin Swinnerton arranged for a Fiat Ducato van to be made available for the Wave 105 charity to be able to use up until the Christmas deadline for donations to be made to the hundreds of drop off points within their area of influence.
Samantha explains the reasons behind the Mission Christmas campaign: “Wave 105 Cash for Kids runs its Mission Christmas every year to ensure children living in poverty in the south will receive a present on Christmas Day. There are over 93,000 children in Wave’s listener area (Hampshire, Dorset, Isle of Wight, West Sussex) living in poverty.
“We rely solely on the generosity of people donating presents as well as money (for when we have to go out and buy any presents if we have a shortfall for a particular age group.) Applications come via social services, children’s charities, foodbanks, organisations, hostels and young carers clubs and we help as many children as we are told about – last year we helped 38,000.
“We couldn’t help as many children as we do without the generosity of listeners and companies in the local area. By working together as one community we can make sure that local disadvantaged children and teenagers have a happy Christmas this year. A huge thank you to Adams Morey who not only donated thousands of pounds worth of presents, but have also lent the Cash for Kids team a Fiat Ducato van. This means that they can collect presents on a daily basis covering a 140 mile radius and take them to the Mission Christmas warehouse ready for sorting by volunteers and sending out to families in time for Christmas.”
On behalf of Adams Morey, Kevin Swinnerton said: “We all hope that Christmas will be a happy occasion and the giving and receiving of presents is a highlight in so many homes on Christmas Day. For us to find out that so many children live in poverty in our area, and would be likely to have a ‘presentless’ Christmas is very sad and stirred us to want to give something to the charity.
“The Fiat Ducato van has come from our Millbrook Van Centre in Southampton and has been liveried with the Mission Christmas logos and hopefully it will help to publicise the great efforts that Samantha and her volunteers at Wave 105 are making to make Christmas a happy time for some many children.”
